Scroll through any wedding blog or website and you’ll see dozens of gorgeous weddings; perfectly arranged bouquets, sparkly table settings, and big venues. And while I love seeing the majesty in all of that, sometimes I lose focus of the fact that it is a wedding, a really beautiful moment in someone’s life and not just a big party. Alexus and Patrick got married at Camp Russell at Oglebay, back in the hills of West Virginia. They made all of their own decorations and the drinks of choice were blue and red jello shots that everyone carried around in their pockets while they danced. The guests were all friends from college, and the whole affair was so insanely fun, it reminded me of what weddings should be. A few dozen friends and family got together one afternoon to watch two wonderful people be married by one of their best friends, and then everyone partied their shoes off. It was laid back and joyful and one of the best days of my summer (and it wasn’t even my wedding, that’s just how fun it was!) Enjoy the photos (and can we talk about how lovely that veil is?)
