About two years ago when I was first starting grad school, I met a wonderful little lady named Kelly. She was on my team of resident assistants (I worked in res-life) and we very quickly became close friends. Around that time I also made friends with a guy named Chris, and it wasn’t long before we all started hanging out together. Then, as typically happens with new friends, we were introduced to one another’s extended friend groups and we met a guy named Josh. For the next several months, our friend group fast tracked its way through years worth of drama: relationships, fighting, injuries, illnesses, loss, you name it. (It wasn’t all bad of course, I made some of the best friends of my life at this time.) We dissolved into multiple different groups, but the two people who somehow broke the barrier were Josh and Kelly.

Now, two years later, these two are married, and not only did I get to photograph it, I got to be a part of it. In all of that chaos, never did I think these would be the two to stick it out together, but they have and they’re both better for it. It’s such an amazing thing to watch two people fall in love, from their first meeting to their first looks as bride and groom, and I can’t believe I got to be witness to it all. I’m so grateful to have been there through the whole thing, to have been invited to be a part of their special day, and to simply be able to call them my friends. I can’t wait to watch them as they travel the rest of their lives together.

PS: Can we just appreciate how beautiful this day was? From the perfect weather to the gorgeous table settings, everything was so beautiful.
